Beasts of the Southern Wild coming soon!

The downside of living a mid-western town is that highly anticipated and hyped indie films arrive in town weeks and sometimes months after it is released in the larger cities (ie. New York, Los Angeles, etc.). For the past several months I have heard so much about 'Beasts of the Southern Wild' that I think I've mentally seen the film already. So many people love this Grand Jury Prize Sundance Film Festival winner, that Oscar talk has been discussed.

Well, the Michigan Theater will start screening the film on Friday, July 27th, and I will definitely go see it that weekend. Prior to that weekend, I will be seeing The Dark Knight Rises, the final Batman film starring Christian Bale and directed by Christopher Nolan. So the final two weekends of July will demand my seeing two highly discussed films.

Meanwhile, check out this clip of 'Beasts' and hopefully it will whet your appetite to go see it.

Over the next few days, I will catch up on reviewing some films I have seen in the past month this is worthy of mentioning.

  1. I want to see this film so badly. Where I live, I'll be waiting for quite some time...

  2. I thought I was going to have to wait until TIFF time, but nope, it'll be here in a couple of weeks. I hope I like it, sometimes the hype of a film turns me off and I wind up not being too impressed with a film, like, The Social Network. After I saw that, I was like, 'Is that all'?

Sometimes I just don't get it.

  3. You are not alone Simone i was the only one of my friends that didn't see what was all the fuss about The Social Network. For me it was just a film i watched once in cinema and was enough.

  4. I've heard great things about Beast, my friend said it's a really artsy type of film and the young lead is fantastic. Those two things have my attention.
